As a former GATE student myself, I am honored to teach GATE students at A.E. Wright Middle School this coming year.  I've found that the most powerful learning happens when students are invited to take ownership of their ideas, dive into big questions, and explore the world through curiosity and creativity.  I am excited to cultivate my students' desire and ability to think critically, not just in an academic setting but in every aspect of life.

Mr. Ryan Bostrom

I am thrilled to be joining the GATE team as I enter my 6th year teaching at A.E. Wright. I have had the pleasure of working with many of the GATE students while chaperoning school trips the past few years and could not be more excited to teach them each day this year. The passion GATE students bring to the classroom is captivating and I look forward to helping them grow throughout the upcoming year!

More than two decades after culminating as an 8th grader from A.E. Wright, I’m thrilled to be returning as a staff member. I have taught a wide variety of ages and subjects since I started teaching in 2011. I’m so excited to be joining the GATE team and getting to work with the wonderful students of A.E.Wright. My favorite thing about teaching is making connections between myself and my students and between my students and the curriculum. History is alive today and everyone loves a good story.

When I began teaching at A.E. Wright in 2009, I was lucky enough to teach History Social-Science and Language Arts GATE classes for a few years. I am beyond thrilled to have found my way back to the GATE program! I look forward to sharing my passions of Social Studies and Language Arts with our gifted Spartans this year. I'm excited to get to know my students, foster higher-level learning, learn from them, laugh together, and most importantly to grow together.

My goal in teaching has always been to work for the long-term flourishing of young people. I'm grateful to have an opportunity to work with GATE students whose curiosities and passions open the door for meaningful examination of our world and ourselves too. Our world is full of wonders to explore! I have a special place in my heart for middle schoolers and look forward to growing and learning together with each unique group of students every year.

Working with GATE students is a unique and special teaching experience for me because I feel I also get to learn from the students.  Together, we explore our curiosities, dive deep into topics, have the most interesting conversations, ask questions through inquiries, and respectfully challenge each other through debates.

I think that students embody society's hope for a brighter future, and that our GATE student's imagination and dreams for a better world need to be fostered so that they can shape our world into a better place.

As a teacher I have always looked for ways to push my students' learning through inquiry, discussion, and collaboration and the GATE program embodies those goals for students. I am excited to get to work with the GATE program at A.E Wright and develop our GATE students' curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking through the use of the scientific and engineering process in class.
